Airbus Symposium in Kathmandu Promotes Helicopter Safety Culture

KATHMANDU, November 2, Sunday
A major Airbus Helicopters symposium held in Kathmandu brought together more than a hundred aviation professionals to advance a culture of safety and operational excellence in Nepal’s helicopter industry. The event, themed “Safety and Support & Services,” focused on strengthening flight safety practices, enhancing maintenance standards, and fostering collaboration among aviation stakeholders.

Organized in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the symposium gathered regulators, operators, and safety experts to exchange insights on accident prevention, flight data analysis, and effective decision-making during demanding flight conditions.

The program was inaugurated by French Ambassador to Nepal Virginie Corteval and CAAN Director General Pradeep Adhikari, both of whom underscored the importance of international cooperation to improve aviation safety in Nepal’s challenging mountain environment.

Key Airbus officials, including Florence Verlut, Head of Aviation Safety and Quality, and Sunny Guglani, Head of Airbus Helicopters South Asia, addressed the gathering.

“At Airbus, safety is not a destination—it’s a living mindset built through learning, sharing, and continuous improvement,” Verlut remarked.

Technical sessions highlighted global rotorcraft safety statistics, flight data monitoring, preventive maintenance, and operational risk management. The event concluded with discussions on Airbus’ upcoming initiatives to boost reliability, training, and maintenance capabilities for operators in Nepal.

By creating a platform for open dialogue and collaboration, the Airbus Helicopters symposium reaffirmed its mission to promote a robust helicopter safety culture and sustainable aviation growth across Nepal and the wider Himalayan region.
