KATHMANDU, November 2
The popular Manaslu trekking route, including the high-altitude Larke Pass, has officially reopened following days of disruption caused by rain and snowfall, according to the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN).
TAAN confirmed that weather conditions have now improved, allowing trekking activities to resume across the Manaslu region. The update, based on reports from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the District Administration Office, Gorkha, and local tourism partners, stated that the route is safe for passage with proper precautions.
As of Sunday, around 400 trekkers and support staff had already departed from Samdo to Dharamsala, with many expected to cross Larke Pass, one of Nepal’s most challenging and scenic sections of the trek.
TAAN has urged trekking agencies to ensure all groups are accompanied by licensed guides and well-equipped support teams, emphasizing caution along landslide-prone stretches between Jagat and Nyak, where the road remains open only up to Khorlabesi.
The association also advised operators to coordinate closely with local authorities and security agencies and to avoid using alternative or difficult trails until weather and trail conditions stabilize further.
The reopening of the Manaslu Circuit brings relief to trekking companies and local communities that rely heavily on seasonal tourism in the region, especially during the autumn trekking peak.
